This week-long watercolor workshop takes place in the Le Marche region of Italy, one the country’s most picturesque, yet least touristed regions. We’ll be drawing and painting medieval towns and motifs against the backdrop of the Sibillini mountains and the Adriatic sea. We have a delightful venue, the lovely Hotel Leone complete with art studio, luxurious accommodations, delectable cuisine and supportive art-enthusiasts on staff. We’ll be exploring the richness of color mixing from subtle notes to brilliant passages, how to capture light, air, space, and the essence of place. This year we’ll also spend a day visiting a fiber farm in the Sibillini foothills with a family of weavers and learn the art of ecoprinting. and relish a delightful afternoon and evening of pasta-making (and dining) with a three-generation local family.

This travel course is for watercolorists of all abilities. The focus is on learning to ‘see’, to draw what one observes, and to explore the whimsical and sparkling nature of color and light in watercolor.

And if you want to extend your Italian sojourn, from this location in central-east Italy, continue on north by train to Venice or west to Florence, Rome or other Italy must-sees at the end of our week together.
